| Customer Reviews: Excellent! January 17, 2010 Mark Time (UK) Another excellent book from this author. Dealing with all the many classes of 2nd generation DMU's, the book is well written and illustrated with some excellnet photographs. A must for all DMU fans and modellers. Highly recommended.
Good, but could have been much better March 15, 2009 Twasme (Swindon, UK) Like the previous reviewer, I found this book a little superficial, particularly in the later chapters. I had been hoping for something as detailed as British Rail Main Line Diesel Locomotives or British Rail Main Line Electric Locomotives on which Colin Marsden was a co-author. But the emphasis in this book is more on the photographic record than the text. Having said that, the earlier chapters covering the prototypes and earlier second generation units are quite detailed, in both the main text and the captions, but later ones on more modern units seem rather rushed.
Good book, but......... February 3, 2009 B. D. Hart 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
could have been a little better. Well illustrated, but some written coverage of the classess seems to be a little superficial compared to others. Would have rather paid a little extra for more in depth written information. Even so it is still a good addition to any enthusiasts library, just doesn't achieve it's full potential
